Ella, also know as Estela Kennen, was born on a balmy December night on a tropical island. Lucky her. Ella spent much of her childhood chasing lizards, wandering through rainforests, and shaking sand out of her flip flops. She also spent as much time underwater as her lungs would allow her. In her more honest moments, Ella also admits to also spending a great deal of time doing more mundane activities such as watching TV, talking on the phone, and eating pizza (which she still does regularly to this day).
Ella left Puerto Rico when she was 15. Since then, she has lived in Massachusetts, Virginia, Louisiana, Colorado, Georgia and, currently, England – with stints in New York, Chicago, and Washington, DC. While she dreads packing and unpacking, Ella hopes to continue adding home addresses to her collection. When she’s not moving, Ella enjoys traveling as much as possible. In fact, she has often said she spends all her money on travel and food. As evidence, she offers the fact hat her house lacks such common objects as a coffee table or television set. It does, however, have a lot of crammed bookshelves.
Like most writers, Ella started scribbling down her thoughts at an early age. She got her first paying gig (okay, a tiny honorarium) at the age of 19 and has spent many years writing-part time while engaging in more traditional activities like school and a “real” job.
Ella lives with her amazing husband and daughter, a huge dog, two stubborn cats, and an assortment of wildlife in her garden. When she’s not writing, traveling, or eating, it’s a good bet she’s reading…. Or walking the dog and thinking about writing, traveling or eating.
